On Sunday, May 19th, Rockland County held a Youth Corps competition, which was followed later that day with an Annual Awards Ceremony. In the Youth Corps competition, different corps from around the county formed teams. These teams were then assigned patients to work on as though they were EMTs. Teams were then awarded trophies for their work. Members Barbara Wallenstein and Katherine Zoda were later awarded for individual contributions at the awards ceremony.

In the Youth Corps competition, Nanuet came away with two trophies. Nanuet placed third in the Trauma Scenario #1 and took third place in the Medical Patient Scenario #2 as well. The members who took part in this competition are Matthew Zoda, Jon Brown, Jake Conlon, Kelly Ball, Annemarie Hahnenfeld, Cathy Smith, Holly Mojica, Ally Serra, Bethany Gruskin, and Elena Roemish. The entire Corps is proud of our Youth Corps for their hard work and dedication.

Later in the evening, Barbara Wallenstein was awared the Nanuet Ambulance Member of the Year award. Barbara has served Nanuet Community Ambulance for twenty-four continuous years, with the past four in the role of President. She has been instrumental in many of Nanuet's current endeavors.

Katherine Zoda was honored as the Rockland County EMS Youth Member of the Year and the Hudson Valley Valley Regional EMS Provider for 2012. Katherine has been a dedicated youth corps member, and continues her service into the senior corps. Youth corps advisor, Dan Rausa had the following to say about her, "She represents the spirit of the youth corps and has a true passion for EMS and community service. Like many of our other members, we are happy to see her continue her service with Nanuet Ambulance as a senior member who began volunteering as a youth member."

Congratulations to all of our members represented!
