On Friday, May 18, 2012, a crew of Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps volunteers went to the Bardonia Elementary School in Bardonia, NY to take part in their Community Public Safety Day. Rockland Paramedics, Clarkstown Police, Nanuet Fire Department, and the Rockland County Sheriffs Mounted Unit also took part.

Students learned how to access the 911 system, and who responds to different emergencies. The students were able to enter all of the emergency vehicles to see what they look like from the inside, and even got to turn the lights and sirens on.

Once inside the Nanuet Ambulance, students were able to touch commonly used medical equipment, such as oxygen masks, and roller gauze to see that there is nothing "scary" about the equipment EMTs and Paramedics may have to use on a patient. They also tried on turnout gear and safety vests for first responders' car accident safety.
