| On Tuesday, February 27th, Nanuet Community Ambulance members, Lieutenant Christopher Grehl and Lieutenant Jonathan Delgado were inspecting equipment in preparation for a shift of responding to 911 emergencies. While doing so, they heard scratching at rear door of the station, and went to check what it could be. When they opened the door, they found a kitten, appearing frail and malnourished, who immediately was rubbing against Lt. Delgado's leg. The lieutenants welcomed the kitten in, and fed it what little they had - leftover chicken. Members of the corps took care of the kitten over the next day and a half - feeding it, making sure it was comfortable, safe, and looking for it's home. It seemed as though the Corps. wouldn't be able to locate the kitten's owners, and Lt. Delgado started packing up the kitten to bring him to the shelter. During his preparations, a Clarkstown Police Officer came to the building, and seeing Lt. Delgado, he asked if the Corps. had found the kitten's owners. The officer asked Lt. Delgado to stay at the station, as he had remembered seeing fliers for a missing cat in his patrol area. The officer quickly found one such sign, returned, and they were able to contact the kitten's (now known as Cody) owners- the Lhotak's. |
